From her rise on television show The Rap Game to being heralded as one of the best young rappers out, Deetranada is a name that more and more fans are becoming aware of by the day. The young, fiery MC released her 2019 project DEEvsEVERYBODY! to much acclaim, showcasing her prowess as a wordsmith beyond her years and a star in the making if not proven to be one already.

Shortly after the release of her project, Mr. Jay Hill sat down with the Baltimore native to discuss the project, her rise to fame, adjusting to life at home and on the road, and one of her fandoms – watching anime. Today, this interview is being premiered from the vault for everyone’s viewing enjoyment.

She broke everything down in her interview with Mr. Jay Hill, and additionally gave readers her top five anime’s for our “Five On It” segment. Be sure to check out Deetranada’s favorites below, and watch her interview with Mr. Jay Hill here.

Death Note

Available on: HBO Max, Hulu, Netflix, and Pluto TV

One of the first anime’s I got hooked on! It’s more-so a darker anime, but the plot will have you on the edge of your seat. This is one of my favorites especially because I think of myself as somebody who holds the death note!

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure

Available on: Hulu, Netflix, Pluto TV, and Tubi

This right here is a banger; I’m talking one of my favorites of all-time. Each season has a different protagonist, but all of them connect! The sense of humor, the art styles and the fact that each character has a stand is so hard to me. I can’t really explain my love for this one, but just know this is one of my go-to’s!

The Promised Neverland

Available on: HBO Max, Hulu, and Netflix

I don’t want to spoil this one! It’s a bunch of orphans in an orphanage – that’s all I’ll say about that one! Sh*t gets wild after a couple of episodes.

Devilman Crybaby

Available on: Netflix

This one is definitely action packed and gory. I stumbled upon this one a year or two ago in the middle of a breakdown and ended up getting hooked on it. I would say watch it all in one sitting (it’s only one season), but if you’re the type to enjoy crazy action then this is the best choice for you!

Afro Samurai

Available on: Hulu and Tubi

GOAT. From the RZA-curated soundtrack to Samuel L Jackson being hilarious to the representation. As depressing as this one is, it’s dope to see a Black person in a culture where you usually don’t see us. It’s a show along with a movie. I got my “baby girl” and samurai tattoo while I was watching the movie in LA last year!
